Happy Independence Day!

For many, the 4th of July is a favorite holiday filled with good weather, BBQs, friends, family and....a crowd favorite: Fireworks.
Fireworks can hit some very loud levels (145 dB) and it is important to be mindful that loud sounds could cause damage to your hearing.

If you are going to be near or participating with fireworks, be mindful of three things.
1) Keep your distance - sound decreases the more you distance yourself from the sound source.
2) Be mindful of how long you are being exposed to the loud sounds.
3) Consider wearing hearing protection.
While celebrating, protect your hearing so you don't risk losing your own independence in the form of experiencing the side effects of hearing loss.
These tips also work great for other situations involving loud sounds including firearms use, machinery, loud tools and other recreational activities.

Have a fun, happy, and safe holiday!
